Xylitol - The Sugar Substitute
What is Xylitol?
Xylitol—An Amazing Discovery for Health
A healthy, natural sweetener.
Pure Xylitol is a white crystalline substance that looks and
tastes like sugar. It is a naturally occurring 5-carbon sugar
alcohol found in many fruits and vegetables and produced in
small amounts by the human body. For commercial use, it is
manufactured from xylan hemicellulose sources such as Birch
trees, cane bagasse and corn cobs/stalks. It is the sweetest of
the polyols with the same sweetness as sugar (sucrose) but with
40% fewer calories and none of the negative tooth decay or
insulin release effects of sugar.
On food labels, Xylitol is classified as a carbohydrate. Xylitol
has been used in foods since the 1960's and is approved in the U.
S. as a food additive in unlimited quantity for foods with special
dietary purposes and is safe for use by those with diabetes or
hypoglycemia.
Over 25 years of testing clinical testing confirms that Xylitol is
the best sweetener for teeth. Xylitol use has been shown to
reduce instances of tooth decay by up to 80%. Sugarfree
chewing gums and candies made with xylitol as the principal
sweetener have already received official endorsements from six
national dental associations.
Health Benefits of Xylitol:
Xylitol is one of bacteria's natural enemies. When certain
harmful bacteria enter the body, they attach to the membranes
of the nose and throat. They begin to culture and grow, causing
infection and sickness.
When xylitol is introduced to the harmful bacteria (specifically
Strep pneumo and H Flu), the bacteria lose their ability to
adhere to those membranes and are not able to grow. Unlike
most antibiotics which kill the majority of bacteria and leave
the resistant, super bacteria behind, xylitol merely flushes
harmful bacteria away.
Studies have shown that xylitol has significant dental benefits.
These benefits have been confirmed in numerous field studies
conducted throughout the world and has lead to official
endorsements by the dental association in Finland, Norway,
Sweden, England, Ireland, Estonia and the Netherlands of
products containing high levels of xylitol.
Xylitol has been clinically proven to:
Fight and lessen the occurrence of Inner Ear and Sinus
Infection
Fight and Reduce Plaque
Fight Cavities
Reduces the secretion of Plaque Acids
Facilitate the Remineralization of Tooth Enamel
Xylitol is also:
Recommended by Dentists, Medical Doctors, Periodontists,
Pediatricians and many health organizations and health
professionals worldwide.
Recommended as a sweetener for diabetics and people with
hypoglycemia. Xylitol has a LOW GLYCEMIC INDEX (7) and
has little effect on blood sugar levels.
Recommended as a natural replacement for fluoride. Clinical
studies show that Xylitol helps reduce cavities up to 80%. It
reduces plaque and allows fluoride to more easily penetrate
teeth.
Xlear Nasal Wash with Xylitol
Better Health through Nasal Cleansing
Bacteria and germs are all around us. They live on the surfaces
that we touch and in the air that we breathe. With germs and
bacteria all around us, how do we prevent them from entering
our bodies?
The Center for Disease Control has stated that, "Hand washing
is the most effective way of reducing communicable disease."
We wash our hands to clean them and we are also cautioned to
keep our hands away from our mouth and nose, but more than
ninety percent of infection causing bacteria enter the body
through the nose and thrive in the nasal passages. How do we
keep our nasal passages clean and free of harmful germs?
USE XLEAR NASAL WASH!
Xylitol is one of bacteria’s natural enemies. When certain
harmful bacteria enter the body, they attach to the membranes
of the nose and throat. Xlear Nasal Wash merely flushes
harmful bacteria away.
WHAT IS IN XLEAR NASAL WASH?
Xlear Nasal Wash contains xylitol, purified water, saline and
grapefruit seed as a preservative.
Purified water, saline, and grapefruit seed extract (GSE) are
found in over-the-counter nasal moisteners that have been
used for years. Xylitol is the key ingredient that makes Xlear
Nasal Wash so revolutionary and effective
IS NASAL WASH SAFE?
Xylitol is a remarkable substance. It is all natural and is non
habit-forming. The World Health Organization and the FDA
have given xylitol their safest ratings for food additives. Babies
and small children can use Xlear Nasal Wash without
restriction.
HOW TO USE NASAL WASH:
Tilt your head forward and seal off the nasal passage by
pressing your finger against one side of your nose. Close your
mouth and give the bottle a quick, firm squeeze, inhaling
deeply to pull the mist into the sinus cavities. Do this once for
each nostril.
Xlear Nasal Wash should be administered to infants and
children in the same way. If the infant or child is resistant to
this method of application, have the child lay down and place
two drops of Xlear Nasal Wash in each nostril
WHEN TO USE NASAL WASH:
For the first 2 to 4 weeks of Xlear Nasal Wash usage, adults
and children should administer it 3 to 4 times a day. After the
1st month, it should be used twice a day as a preventative
measure.
For infants and small children who are in day care or exposed
to infectious bacteria, Xlear Nasal Wash should be
administered 3 to 4 times a day.

Why Use Xylitol?
Effective
Studies using xylitol as either a sugar substitute or a small
dietary addition have demonstrated a dramatic reduction in
new tooth decay, along with arrest and even some reversal of
existing dental caries. Xylitol provides additional protection
that enhances all existing prevention methods. This xylitol
effect is long-lasting and possibly permanent. Low decay rates
persist even years after the trials have been completed.
Natural
Xylitol is right here, inside, already. Our bodies produce up to
15 grams of xylitol from other food sources using established
energy pathways. Xylitol is not a strange or artificial
substance, but a normal part of everyday metabolism. Xylitol
is widely distributed throughout nature in small amounts.
Some of the best sources are fruits, berries, mushrooms
lettuce, hardwoods, and corn cobs. One cup of raspberries
contains less than one gram of xylitol. Chewing is a natural
process and chewing gums provide some exercise lacking in a
refined diet. If chewing is uncomfortable, xylitol mints or
candies can also stimulate saliva, the natural tooth protector.
Safe
In the amounts needed to prevent tooth decay (less than 15
grams per day), xylitol is safe for everyone.
Convenient
Xylitol can be conveniently delivered to your teeth via chewing
gum, tablets, or even candy. You can implement your xylitol
program anywhere, anytime. It fits right in with the most
frantic schedules. You don’t need to change your normal
routine to make room for xylitol.
Enjoyable
Some health regimens require iron willpower, discipline, and
commitment. But xylitol tastes so good that it becomes
automatic. Children love it! Nagging is minimized.
The Spry Dental Defense System
The Spry Dental Defense System is a family of products
manufactured using Xylitol-a natural sweetener. Clinical
studies have repeatedly shown reductions in tooth decay by up
to 80% in people who consistently use products sweetened
with 100% Xylitol.
The Spry Dental Defense System Includes:
- Spry Chewing Gum
- Spry Mints
- Spry Toothpaste
- Spry Oral Rinse
Studies show that consistent use of products sweetened with
100% Xylitol:
- Reduce cavities by up to 80%
- Inhibit the ability of cavity-causing, plaque-forming
bacteria to stick to teeth
- Reverse early cavity formation
- Reduce gum tissue inflammation
- Reduce ear infections by up to 40%
- Minimize tooth scarring and puffy gums that can occur
during orthodontic treatment
How Xylitol Fights Cavities
Xylitol products enhance dental health by creating an
unwelcome environment for bacteria. Bacteria do not stick to
teeth in a Xylitol-rich environment. As a result, there is less
plaque build-up: Without plaque, decay-causing bacteria
cannot stick to tooth enamel.
It's that simple. In the presence of Xylitol, bacteria can¹t
stick to teeth. Without bacteria, oral health improves and
tooth decay is greatly reduced.
X-Point System for Patients
The Xylitol-rich Spry Dental Defense System together with
good oral hygiene and regular dental care can significantly
reduce the risk of cavities and gum inflammation.
Understanding the X-Point System The X-Point System was
developed as a simple guide for people who want to fight
cavities with all-natural Xylitol products.
The X-point system provides a guideline for daily product
usage to help achieve the appropriate levels of Xylitol along
with the frequency needed to fight cavities and plaque.
Spry Product X-Points
- Brush with Spry Toothpaste...........3 X-Points
- Use Spry Oral Rinse......................3 X-Points
- Chew One Piece of Spry Gum........2 X-Points
- Eat One Spry Mint.........................1 X-Point
One usage of a Spry product, contributes a measurable
number of X-Points toward a total daily target of 18 points. At
18 points daily, the mouth will be exposed to approximately 8
grams of Xylitol, the amount shown in clinical studies to be
effective in reducing cavities.
For example, by brushing with Spry toothpaste twice daily (6
points), using the oral rinse once (3 points), and adding
chewing gum and mints in sufficient quantity for an additional
9 points, you will effectively use Xylitol to fight tooth decay.

How to use Xylitol?
It is not necessary to replace all sweeteners to get the dental
benefits of xylitol. Look for xylitol sweetened products that
encourage chewing or sucking to keep the xylitol in contact
with your teeth. The best items use xylitol as the principal
sweetener.
HOW MUCH?
Studies show that 4 to 12 grams of xylitol per day are very
effective. It’s easy to keep track of your xylitol intake. The
"all xylitol" mints and gums contain about one gram of xylitol
in each piece. You could begin with as little as one piece four
times a day for a total of four grams. It is not necessary to use
more than 15 grams per day as higher intakes yield
diminishing dental benefits.
HOW OFTEN?
If used only occasionally or even as often as once a day, xylitol
may NOT be effective, regardless of the amount. Use xylitol at
least three, and preferably 5 times every day.
TIMING
Use immediately after eating and clearing the mouth by
swishing water, if possible. Between meals, replace ordinary
chewing gum, breath mints, or breath spray with comparable
xylitol products.
